WHAT IS MANDA BAY ?
For many, Manda Bay is all about relaxation – sitting by the pool with a good book and a cocktail in hand, paddle boarding down the silent mangrove waterways, sleeping on the hammock outside each of the bedrooms, or walking down the beach at low tide, taking in the peace and quiet. Even taking a drive out to see the resident herd of buffalo in the infamous blue Range Rover has remained ever popular!
For others, it about the water sports. Families and energetic young can exhaust themselves out on the motorboat. The water sports toy box is full with banana boats, screamers, two Laser sailboats, kayaks, water skis, wake boards and snorkelling equipment. Manda Bay is an ideal location to teach many of these activities to first-timers, as the sea surrounding the lodge is safe, calm and warm. The bay is wonderful for kitesurfing – but you need to bring your own kite!
Of course, for many others, it’s a fishing Mecca – we have three dinghies, which are ideal for cast or fly fishing on the reefs and creeks (inshore/line fishing), as well as ‘Cheza’, the deep-sea fishing boat for those who want to head out to the deep sea to catch the big one!
Some like to add a bit of culture into the mix and boat across to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lamu for the day or sail out on a local dhow for the day with a picnic lunch.
And finally, there are those who want to enjoy the company of others – chat and drink and enjoys stories under the stars, dance the night away with friends and family and enjoy a great time. We are very relaxed and want our guests to feel free to let their hair down and have fun! Manda Bay has a large following of friends and repeat clients, often seeking a variety of different experiences; the good thing is we have something for everyone.
