Kisumu was a beehive of activity ahead of the Madaraka Day celebrations and media, being an integral part and key stakeholder of Kenya’s tourism industry, gives us the opportunity to share an innovative destination marketing concept executed by one of the radio stations in the region. That weekend was the inaugural #Epic48 by Urban Radio, so here are some photos of the experience.
This started as a competition on Urban Radio where 2500 participants entered, then they shortlisted down to 650 and finally to 18 people who were voted by the public and finally a couple and two best friends won an all-expense paid weekend experience around Kisumu courtesy of Urban Radio.
The winners were called up on Friday morning on air and told to pack their bags, picked up by top of the range vehicles complete with motorbike outriders and given a tour of the city before checking in at their home for the weekend, Ciala resort. The epic reception was then followed by a fantastic launch party for our winners who, of course, had no idea what was to be of their weekend this was followed by a barbeque dinner and cocktail to set things off in motion. Epic, right?
The winners enjoyed two nights at Ciala with champagne breakfast, then lunch at the floating restaurant on Lake Victoria that is Villa Del Sol, not to mention a soothing spa treatment and a classy dinner at Ciala Resort.
